PSA: The Hardway with guest, Alex Wright!

On May 23, 2012, WCW gets relived on the Hardway Podcast, as "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright sits down with Jon Harder talks about his illustrious WCW reign.

Debuting in the company at 18 years old, Alex talks about what got him into WCW back in 1994. Alex talks about how in his first PPV match in the company, he faced Jean-Paul Lévesque, a man you'd ultimately come to know as Triple H. Also, Alex discusses the Paul Roma incident from Superbrawl V in 1995 in full detail, as well as the behind the scenes dealing with Eric Bischoff during this time.

When the Cruiserweight Division took off, so did another side of "Das Wunderkind". Alex talks about his experiences wrestling Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Ultimo Dragon, and Chris Jericho. Speaking of Jericho, Alex actually discusses the backstage fight with Hardbody Harrison that was written about in "A Lion's Tale"! Furthermore, Alex speaks on being linked to Disco Inferno in singles and tag team action. Even more spectacularly, Alex talks about "the Best European Wrestler" storyline and how it was to wrestle Finlay and the British Bulldog, especially with the back history revolving Alex getting into the industry.

In 1999, Alex transformed into Berlyn and goes into detail with Jon about the character change.

"I should have saved the character for the WWE."

Also, Alex talks about why it possibly didn't work and his own detailed opinions on Vince Russo. Lastly, Alex states why he didn't accept the buyout from his Time Warner contract when WWE bought WCW in 2001:

"...and they couldn't buy me, so I sat out my contract, because the offer the WWE gave to me wasn't good enough."

But there is more to Alex Wright than just WCW. Alex discusses his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling (including a funny Koji Kanemoto story from Starrcade 1995), being the son of legendary British wrestler Steve Wright, in which "...the pressure was very high on me because of the name Wright...", and running his own wrestling school in Germany, The Wright Stuff (, and his own wrestling promotion, New European Championship Wrestling!

THIS IS A MUST LISTEN INTERVIEW! Alex Wright does an hour interview on the Hardway and trust me, it does not disappoint!

The Hardway Podcast has been around since September 2011. PSA: AIW Presents: The Two-Day “JLIT” JT Lightning Invitational Tournament

AIW Presents: The Two-Day “JLIT” JT Lightning Invitational Tournament
By Alyssa Kay

If you haven’t yet heard, then get ready for the best announcement from us yet! AIW – Absolute Intense Wrestling – of Cleveland, Ohio, is going to be back in action in just two short weeks with a “TPI-Style” 24-man tournament featuring some of the best independent professional wrestlers in the business today, despite some fierce competition. The tournament, known as the JT Lightning Invitational Tournament (or “JLIT”) will be running on Friday, May 11th for first-round matches, and then again on Saturday, May 12th for quarter, semi, and final rounds of the tournament. Bell time each evening is at 7:30 and will take place at Turner’s Hall at 7325 Guthrie Avenue in Cleveland

Though the TPI-style tournament holds a special place in the heart of independent professional wrestling, but the JLIT itself is even more special because it honors the late JT Lightning, former trainer and wrestler in the northeastern Ohio circuits. Lightning had competed numerous times in AIW himself, and his mentoring and expertise has touched much of the current and up-and-coming AIW talent. The tournament serves as a legacy, honoring him and his family who still works closely with AIW.

Friday, May 11th, Night One Match-Ups:
Brian “Spanky” Kendrick vs. Tim Donst: Last year, AIW’s 24-man tournament saw Paul London against [current champion] Shiima Xion, and this year his former partner Spanky will be taking on Tim F’n Donst! There is no doubt that the former WWE superstar will bring a fast-paced matched with a lot of quick, hard hits. Donst has been through a lot over the past year in AIW from being screwed over by, and taking false allegiances with Flexor Industries, losing his Absolute title shot, and teaming with others he deemed less than himself. Tim Donst has been through hell on his quest for the Absolute Title, and he’s certain not to let anyone, regardless of who they are, in his way.
