Bryan Danielson vs. Super Dragon from EPIC WAR TV 2010: Match Spotlight Series #57

What Dragon is better: American or Super?

I have no idea what EPIC WAR is but they have a shit ton of free shit on youtube with some awesome names. So, if I like the atmosphere and feel of the shows, there will be a lot more of these matches.

First up: Bryan Danielson vs. Super Dragon.  Awesome.  Apparently the match is for the APW Internet Title, whatever that is.  Also, apparently this was the first episode of EPIC WAR.

Daniel Bryan vs. Mark Henry© from Smackdown 11/29/2011: Match Review

(Image credited to WWE.com)

I've decided to review random matches every once in a while.  Sometimes there will be a reason, and somethings there won't be.  Unlike the Match Spotlight Series, these will be matches that I can't legally provide a video of.

First up, the main event of this Live Smackdown this week: Daniel Bryan challenging Mark Henry for the World Title in a steel cage.  With Daniel Bryan claiming that he is cashing in his MitB briefcase at Wrestlemania, the result of this match has implications for the build to Wrestlemania 2012.

Beyond Wrestling Tournament for Tomorrow 2011 Review

This is an advanced review of the show.  It will be put on Youtube for free in the coming weeks.

Joey Ryan vs. Nick Madrid from Mach 1 Wrestling: Match Spotlight Series #56

Mach 1 Wrestling (a NWA affiliate) is a SoCal promotion that runs Friday shows and a training school.  Ryan is a trainer at the school, and Madrid trains at the school (after getting his initial training from Lance Storm).

I actually interviewed Madrid and Ryan (separately) back in September. The Madrid interview can be accessed here.  The Ryan interview can be accessed here.

Sugar Dunkerton vs. Steve "The Turtle" Weiner & Sugar Dunkerton vs. Josh Thor from Beyond Wrestling: Miracle Workers: Match Spotlight Series #55

Sugar Dunkerton lost his debut match in Beyond, which means he has "-1" points.  On his second show, he decided that he wanted to get into the positive numbers.  He issued not 1, but 2 open challenges back to back. Sugar dubbed this, "The Sugar Dunkerton Two Point Challenge"

Rest in Peace Bison Smith

Bison Smith, a great American wrestler, passed away in the last 24 hours.  I won't bother writing a mini-bio (more qualified writers and fans will do him better justice), except to say that I greatly enjoyed a lot his work in NOAH (where he was a star) and the few matches he did in Ring of Honor.  My thoughts are with his family (I think he had a young daughter).

I'll leave you with a beautiful story just written by El Generico about the first time he really got to hang out with Bison Smith.  The link to the story is here.

Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw vs. UltraMantis Black & Crossbones from Chikara Revelation X 2009: Match Spotlight Series #50

Another free match from Chikara.  They stopped putting up free matches on the Podcast-A-Go-Go, but there are still a few that I haven't watched.  This match features (as the banner suggests) Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw teaming up against UltraMantis Black and Crossbones from the Season 8 premiere, Revelation X.

Thoughts on the Match:

Goldust's Wrestlemania Campaign

Wrestling veteran and current WWE Agent/Injured Wrestler, Goldust, has started a Twitter Campaign to get a Wrestlemania match this year.  Goldust is proposing putting his career on the line in order to get a shot at his Cody Rhodes's Intercontinental Title.  Cody and Goldust are half-brothers.

To support Goldust, follow him on Twitter: @WWEGoldust

Views from the Hawke's Nest: I love this idea.  I think these two could have a real solid 10 minute match to round out a Wrestlemania Card.  Also, these two have the potential to have really strong television segments to build up the match, which could also involve their father, Dusty Rhodes.

Readers, what do you think?

Here is a link to a huge Pro Wrestling Guerrilla DVD sale.

You can buy any 5 PWG DVDs for $40.  That is an incredible deal for the (in my opinion) best wrestling company going today.  You should take advantage of that and spread the word about PWG.  This is a chance to vote with your dollar, and give money to companies that are giving you wrestling.

If my opinion means anything to you, I can definitely recommend any DVDs from 2009-2011 as being a fun time.

Aeroform vs. Jollyville Fuck-Its from Beyond Wrestling "Developmental Hell": Match Spotlight Series #48

Aeroform are Flip Kendrick and Louis Lyndon; they have gotten exposure in DGUSA, Evolve, and AAW, and I enjoyed their stuff.  The Jollyville Fuck-Its are Russ Myers and T-Money.  This is the first I have seen of them.

Match Thoughts:

Chikara High Noon vs. the DGUSA tripleshot: the importance in building up World Title challengers

Over the November 11th-13th weekend, both Chikara and Dragon Gate USA will present their final cards of the year (for the record, Chikara will be doing an all female tripleshot in December, but those shows will be considered "post-season" shows).  I recently wrote on Twitter that I was more excited about the upcoming Chikara iPPV, High Noon, than the 3 DGUSA iPPVs happening the same weekend.  This statement seemed to surprise some people, as DGUSA has put together a series of cards that promise to deliver fast paced, hard-hitting, action.  Chikara meanwhile has put together a card mostly filled with storyline and character driven matchups.  While DGUSA's cards certainly look better on paper, Chikara is presenting a card that appeals to me more than any of the DGUSA cards because of the differences in the care of building up their respective World Title matches.
